Hi Folks,
I bought a pair of Dwarf Flag Cichlids (Smiling Acaras) about a half a year ago that were supposed to be a male/female pair. They lived together without incident until about 3 months in, when the larger started battering the slightly smaller one. The fish took some damage and I removed to a hospital tank for about 2 months. It looked as if it had lymphocitis, so I treated as best as possible.
I reintroduced today, and the larger one instantly started going after the smaller one again. I am wondering if these are just a male/male pair, or if this is some mating behavior (unwanted as it may be).
Pics attached. Thank you in advance.
