As the title says. I've got some questions on how several of you sex a fish from visual/picture.

Is there something you are looking for in all species or is it specifc things for specific fish? What things do you look for? How large/old can most be sexed? Is there a very for sure method like venting?

I've got roughly 10 to 12 different breeds of fish I'm looking to sex I've got 2 of each. I'm trying to end up with just males. Except for my festae. I'd like to end up with a male and female.

Would it just be better if I told you what I've got and had some pics of each?

Doing africans for so long it was easy to figure it out. Younger ca/sa cichlids a lil different.

Thanks for any help and suggestions. I'd like to thin the heard.

Yes, there are some significant things that tell ethe male and female apart in few varieties of cichlids.
Few could be Nuchal hump , marking around the eyes ( in case of JD's) and few more.
A side profile shot of the fish , which is more than 4 inches can be the best.
In order to help you , names and good side shots of your fishes will serve better.
