Hi all, I'm new to this website and was wondering if someone can help me sexing flowerhorns? I've heard about the Kok(M), spot on the dorsal fins(F)..V anal pores(F) and U(F)..etc? Can someone please help? Maybe w/ picks of anal pores if possible...I'm desperate!!!!

Oh no, not nother Fkerhorn keeper...lol....
Look close at their vents and try to see if the sexual tubes are sticking out...Hopefully you have more than two fish to compare...Usually the thick tube that sticks downwards is female..The male tube is thinner, sometimes pointed at an angle...This way easier during breeding when both tubes are fully extended...But, sometimes the tubes will pop out for no apparent reason...Chit, my Midas Devil rubs up on his heater and always fully aroused....That tube of his is constantly pocking out...I think it's time to get him a girlfriend...

Ah, I'm not a true flowerhorn owner..per say!!! I like big fish and Arowana's are my type of species. Silvers, Jardini's, Asians..you name it!!! However, I was given 4 babie flowerhorns. Of which, they are now 5-7". I think they were call ZZ pearls and one of them has a petruding anus? or anal..lol? And the other three are just big headed..somewhat colorful? I'm not too interested in the species, however, I am curious about progeny offspring...since these species where introduced by man!!! Thanks!!!
Males are also generally thicker in the body and more colorful than the females. But again, greatest way to tell is venting, though the nuchal hump is another telltale factor. Good luck!
