i have just bought 3 adult wild jurupari & was wondering if anybody knows how to sex them?

i have noticed they all seem to have a little point by the anul fin

i know the likes of the midas cichlid that you can generally tell without the obvious longer fins & head hump that you can tell its a male by the males sex organ shows as a point by the anul fin

all the jurupari look identical & i normally have a good eye for sexing fish even some of them that are deemed unsexable

anyone have any ideas?

I know them as Satanoperca Jurupari, and have them myself.
If they are adults,
the male has a longer "nose", as wel as finns.
The back- and anal fin are elongated.
And the behaviour of the males is significant.
They are more dominant and swim above those which are surpressed.

Venting. They don't show any sexual dimorphism.

What's venting?

Jurupari's are described as sexual dimorphistic.
Characteristics of males are clearly distinguishable.
And why has the man a longer nose?
Because he's the one who mostly keeps the fry in his mouth.
Bigger mouth, more fry.

I seriously doubt that you made this up yourself.....so where did you get this information from?
