What are the physical and if any, color differences in males and female GT's?

If you receive no answers you could PM CARGR he has had a couple of breeding pairs and infact has apair now that he was telling me about the sexes earlier at my house.. Though i didn't catch the details.. As I do not own any..

male's are more emerald colored, with yellow-orange fins, and their dorsal, and tail fin coloration is much brighter

females darker, almost no color at all

The first pic is my female at 5" and the second is of my male at 10".... you can see a few of their fry with the male.

Hope it helps

Venting the fish is the best and most accurate way, but if you don't know how, then about your only option is to look for the "hump" on the head, which is not very accurate. Also males tend to grow alot faster and get bigger in general

i hope you dont mind JESTERX626..but i need to id my green terror before i kill myself

tell me experts!!! now im only 50/50 thinkings its a male

if you look at him closer to his cheeks...he has some black coloring which indcates a female....however, he has a long body and my female has round body....man im going nuts

I used to refer to myself as a self proclaimed expert at sexing GT's even as juvies, I've always been correct because I've managed to pair many up and breed them, however, I'm a little perplexed by yours. I would say about an 85% chance it's male, however, based on the slope of its head, but at that size I males finnage is generally extended a bit more.

before i got him, the pet owner said he had huge hump...but cant believe him for sure..:) ..the finnage are damage right now and im tryin to heal him...my female body is rounder than him and hes body is long~...

100%male, i know this fish as my hand lol, all its stories and the tell of the true and saums gts. even thoe this fish is from here:D , another tip is that females dont have notable scales, males have colors even in the smaller scales near the pectoral finns:)
