When I first bought them, I thought the one on the right was male and the left was female...

Then the last few weeks, I thought I had 2 females...

Then I see this happening and I think I'm wrong again.

Thoughts on sex?

Not sure how to sex these particular green terrors, but my impression is male on the right ... female on the left. But if it were me, I'd contact Alf Stalsberg via his website and get his opinion. He's usually been very good answering acara questions.

Agree with this sexing. Left GT has more blue/green bearding, which is common to females whereas males have more visible worming/spotting patterns. But Al should definitely be able to sex them with 99% accuracy since he is the authority on GTs. :)

I got a quick reply back from Alf Stalsberg! Along with both of your sentiments, he confirms Female on the left and Male on the right!

Yay!!

Cool. I was going more by behavior than color, since I didn't know how to sex them ... if the same traits for the other GT's apply.

Alf has always been good about responding, he has a true love of all acaras and always seems willing to help out. All hail the King of Acaras. :headbang2

Beautiful fish! However these aren't Stalsbergi, they're White Saum A.Rivulatus

pretty sure rivs are "gold saums". what he has here appears to be a stalsbergi.

very cool fish man! one of my dream fish.
