Sexing hybrid peacocks.

No, none are monomorphic, at least no nice looking ones. The problem is often it takes till they get older to tell.

Example, ob peacocks. Often they will be sold looking just brown with patches and maybe a little color. Give them a year or so and the males will be stunning while the females will just have a faint pinkish hue. (Still nice looking for female malawis).

Line breed german reds now have females that can look extremely red. In fact there have been a few that I have mistaken for males. Still not as stunning as a good male. (Basically they have taken the males and made them have a ton more color and the females look like the males did say 5 years ago.)

Also any good LFS will let you vent. It isn't really hard on the fish. (I stink at venting though... but if it is male it should be oval, and female round...) I just seem to have a lot of round males...

Well, forget the pics of a vent :), the fish is too small and pics come out too blurry. I did vent it with a magnifying glass though, and it is a male (you could barely see the vent as opposed to its anus), also vented all fish in my all-male tank just to make sure that I wouldn't have anymore "holding males" in the future (2 are going back to the lfs for a trade in :) ).

Anyways here's a pic of the fish, it was marked as Aulonocara "Dragon Blood" (I've also seen some peacocks labeled "Fire Fish" are these the same?) which I'm pretty sure that it is, but would still like to make sure and hear from you guys:

How come I can never find some nice looking peacocks like this, I stumbled across some red ones in petsmart once, bought one, its a female, thought it was a male. Then I found some at some place in Schaumburg where I bought one that was thought to be female, turned out to be male, its blue. But that guy cost me $20 at 1". At this point I am just interested in finding more of them, eventually I will start thinning them out and getting more specific on the kinds I like, but all I seem able to find is Red and Blue and I have seen 1 OB, but it was kinda ugly I thought...
