Hey guys, I’m looking to start breeding my jack Dempsey(probably with an electric blue) and I was wondering if you could sex my existing jd for me. And give me some tips on sexing electric blues

Looks male to me. Lack of the blue beard and a more elongated body, vs egg shape for females.

See in the pick. The area below her eyes sweeping back to her gill plates. That part of the skin is blue. This is a female only trait.

The first pic is breeding colors, the second is normal coloring. You can still see the blue beard.
Notice her body, how it's not as long, more shorter, compact, egg shaped.

As far as EBjacks go best bet is body shape and how it behaves to tell them apart.

If breeding ebjd then it’s best to start out with the ebjd and find a mate for it once you can successfully sex it. They are notoriously difficult to sex when young.

you could buy a bunch of each color morph and hope that you end up with a pair of opposite colours.

you could buy one or two ebjds and raise them up, once sexed then go look for a regular jd of the opposite sex and try pairing them.

If you plan on getting a male EB make sure he's larger in size, because a regular female will dominate him.

You usually want to breed a ebjd male to a blue gene jack demp female, that is if you want to be able to produce ebjd. You have a male jack demp which is more aggressive than a ebjd male but if you can find a ebjd female, I'm sure you can try and breed them too.
