im looking to buy a young male/female pair of electric blue dempseys about 2" can they be sexed at this size, and if so how?
 
2 EBJDS breeding wont produce EBJDs you need a regular Jd with the EB genes

i would start with a regular pair of jds females have a blue beard as i like to call it, il ltry and dig up some pictures for ya
 
thanks i dont plan on breeding them, i just want 2 to live in better coexistence in a tank, and i like the electric blue color.
 
yea they look good, IMO they arent great fish, they dont live nearly as long and are alot weaker than JD's if your looking for a JD then get a gold morph JD they are so SEXY! check on aquabid or cichlid broker (google him)
 
most are short lived but they can live a while and as with some they can be pretty sensitive but others are pretty tuff they all seem to be sensative to parasite infection but other then that with clean water there pretty hardy

I to have woundered how to sex EBJD i can do it when there older but nore sure about young ones

they have the golds on the price list but the gallery isnt up, and i didnt see any on aquabid. are the golds just like reg dempseys,as far as size herdiness etc.?
 
awesome maybe one regular and one gold? some variety ya know?
