I wanted to know the sex of these JD's. I took back the Jag because he kept fighting with my JD and the owner let me trade it in for a suspected female. He told me if it didn't work out I could bring it back and try again! If you are in Nebraska go to AQUA PETS!

btw I know something is wrong with the last jd (female) I am treating her now. She is actually improving.
 
I am going to take the newer female back and pick-up a very pretty male that was in one of the tanks. So was it possible that the Jag was trying to show off for the female? After the lip lock ended he (jag) opened up his mouth all the way and moved his head side to side.
 
Yes, S/a will kill eachother for the possibility of a mate. Horny fish can get feisty.
Im 98% sure you have 2 females there. Males are very easy to tell at the size you have there. Males will have alot more pearl scales and the dots under the eye wont be smudgy. Dempsys are 1 of the easiest to sex imo. Dont just go by the fins. The face is what tells you the sex.
 
also that tank was too small for a jag and he prolly felt his territory was at stake.
 
I have a 135 that I am working on right now and if a get a male and they pair up will they try to kill everything in the tank?
