I saw these 4" for $8 at the lfs. I was wondering how i can sex these guys? I was looking for the pointed fins and more color in males, but thy all looked identical, but some had a faint red trim on the dorsal so does this suggest it's male?

Females have BLue more on the bottom of their head going under jaw.. Males pretty much the opposite.. Blue goes over the top of head and stops before the bottom of Jaw..
Top Dempsy in Pick being a female. And Bottom a male.. This should clear it up for you .. Pretty distinctive after you see it
ANd females tend to have more of a blotch than spotty look

Yup, thats about right. I have both male and female. The male is a little more faded where as the female has stayed dark, also much smaller. I bought both of em at the same time and the same size, of about 1-2". The male is now about 6-7" and the female is at about 4-5".
