I just bought a 5+" "pair" or bgjds. Parents were bg and eb. I know I've for sure is male because he has no spangles on jaw and has pointer dorsal. But the so said female is slightly smaller a bit duller and has a rounded dorsal. But she doesn't have spangles on the jaw. Just maybe some small ones beside the mouth but nothing like I see in most females. I tried getting pics but they are glued to each other.

The two pics are both of the male.

Did you atleast see evidence of babies to make sure they are bgjd? If not there is no way of knowing if they are bgjd until they breed. But I like the look of the male. He looks awesome!

The first one is definetly male...the second one doesnt have much blue on its body which would indicate female but at that size should have the blue beard could possibly be a female...good luck...

Here are some more pics.
In the final pic you can see the small rounded dorsal. The "female" does have more spangles than the male. But not a beard if spangle.

They are bgjd because the parents were blue gene and electric blue which yields bgjd and ebjd.

Ime the first is 100% male. The second I'm a li'l on the fence about but I'm leaning more towards female due to the lighter coloring and what looks like a splotchy spangle below the lip on the fishes right side but you never really know unless you get fry or if you vent.
