I have kept and been working with Andinoacara species (The genus of your GT), for about 5 years and find them exceedingly difficult to gender ID.
Some people use nuchal humps, but I have seen females with humps.
Some people use fin extensions, or the lack thereof, but I have seen males with short extension, and females with long ones.
The only way I ever know for sure, is if I see pair together. spawning, and then remember them when not spawning apart.

In the shot above, the male is the upper individual, female lower.
Below a male, note how far the dorsal and fin anal fins extend, into the caudal area.

Below a female, note those same 2 fins only reach @ half way into the caudal fin area.

Above female with fry.
Below pair with fry, male left.
