So I rearranged the tank a little today and shortly after I was done my lonely chromide started showing what i believe is "breeding behavior"
This consists of building a "nest" under some rocks and chasing away anyone that comes near- including me and my archerfish- lol
I would like to get it a mate but don't want to just buy a few and hope for the best. I read that males will have red coloration on the edges of anal and caudal fins, Is this true? is this true for young fish too or just mature males? If the fish is building a nest does that mean it is female? or does the male help too? that sounds bad but she is the one expecting eggs right?
Please help if you can- thanks

Both males and female look very similar, so it can be quite hard to try and specifically find a female. Normally people buy a group, and then distinguish the males from the females by looking for their somewhat brighter breeding colours.

Yeah I will be overstocked when my current stock matures, I have plans for a larger tank but don't want to cram too much in my 130. I might go buy one more and see if i get lucky. Would there be much aggression between 2 males or 2 females?

They're not like typical cichlids about territories etc, but personally I wouldn't cram a group into a nearly fully stocked/fully stocked tank.
