Yeah I heard their hard to sex by looking. Venting will probably be the way to sex Oscars.
That is also my understanding. Or waiting to see if one of the two lays eggs and if they hatch.

The easy non invasive way of checking sex is to tease them with food so they swim straight up. Then grab a pic of the area in question.
If the holes are same size it's a boy
If different as above its female. The bigger one is the one that passes the eggs.
