sexing oscars?

okay so my oscar pair: one tiger and one albino tiger have been cleaning and digging one spot in the sand... seems like they are trying to mate. so i was wonders how i can tell whos the male and female. thanks. here are some pics

im not an expert by any means as iv never bred oscars only kept them, but as far as i know the only real time you can tell is when they are actually spawning and you see who is laying the eggs and who is fertilizing but im sure someone with actual experience in breeding oscars will have better advice

Agreed.And no once can actually sex these oscars with a guarantee.

yeah its pretty much impossible unless you want to vent them

yeah venting isnt an option... i herd it stresses the fish out a lot

As said before, its nearly impossible to sex them. There are a few things you can look for... but they are not 100% for sexing them. I would just look at there vents when they are begging for food.

When you see them starting to drop their vents, look and see which one is noticeably smaller and pointed and which one is larger and fat. The males usually start to lower a day or two before the females, IME in breeding cichlids.
