Good morning.
Over the past weekend i ended up getting a small (about 4in) Pearsie (at least thats what the lfs told me) He/ she pretty mellow. mostly gold with a patch of black on its belley (i will post pics this weekend) anyways i was tring to find info on this guy/ girl and had very lil luck. My question is, how do you tell the sex of this fish. all in all it really dont mater for it just the one but i still like to know. any additional info will be greatly accepted!

lol i'll post a pic this weekend, but posting a pic and u saying its male/female doesnt teach me anything. :) i want to know how do you tell the differance....is it by the shape of a fin, color, ect, ect, ect, . i know a mature male may get the nuchal hump on his head but not all Male Pearsei's get the nuchal hump. anywh0 any websites or forums that can lend me a hand on more info would be appreciated. I luv to know all i can about the fish i have!!

males also get the longer, more elaborate looking fins-females are a little stubbier.

I did a bit of research and the only thing I could find is that females are smaller and do not develop a nuchal hump. Like bocourti and godmani this is a species that lacks sexual dimorphism - making it difficult to sex.

id say just name it "Pat" that way it can be male or female lol

thx...
lol funny you should mention the name pat. the name actually came to mind for a brief moment. hahahah but i still havent decided on what to name him/ her... lol

when they reach around 5=" males start to develope the elongated dorsal and anal fins. . . thats what ive been told anyway.

cool, yea his fins are starting to enlongate now. he about 6-7 inch :)

Here is an update pic of my Pearsie. he doing great!
