im still getting used to africans and well my question is.....how do i sex the fish without taking it out of the tank/or waiting for it to fire up? is there a way to just look at it and tell? thanks all help is greatly appreciated. if you need pics let me know.

you can sex may of them by the spots on thier tails.... males have more spots on thier anal fins then females....
i would recommend "kenyi" they are the easies because you can purchase a group of them and even if they are all female at the time one female will morph into a male...it is really cool!!!! the females are blue,males yellow.... it is an awesome fish!

they are african cichlids, sorry for forgetting that....ill try to get some pics later....mainly i have a few that i would like to sex because my otherones have already fired up
No, which type of african cichlids. Some can tell by color, some size, and other venting. Egg spots are not a reliable way to sex cichlids.
