Ive done a couple searches and havent found much on this, there must be something or someway to determine the sex if anyone knows of something please let me know.

I have heard of people feeling for eggs etc and sacrificing the fish to pull eggs and sperm manually so must be a way of telling male/female

It is quite well established AFAIK that these cannot be reliably sexed based on exterior traits. A weak sign is that if a bunch are raised together all in the same conditions, statistics would favor females being more full-bodied than males. But this is not 100% accurate either.

RTCs will not produce eggs and milt naturally under captive conditions. One has to use hormones to trick them into that, as it is done on farms.

Exploratory surgery is the only way to tell 100%, AFAIK. Even x-ray, ultrasounds, or other non-invasive techniques appear largely fruitless (anyone know this for certain?).

I'll be glad if someone shares more info with all of us that augments or even proves me wrong or what not.
