sexing salvini and JD

hey anyone else think this salvini is a male? hes about 5 inches and pretty aggressive. also, whats the deal with this JD's colors? nobody bothers it so i dont see why it would be stressed. if anyone knows the sex of the JD aswell that would be cool.

thanks, the jack is very timid for a male im suprised i was thinking female because its so calm

im not an expert on jacks but a female would be less in color and would have less pointy fins and most jacks i have seen are realy not that aggressive compared to other cichlids.but the sal is a deff male i had a 4 inch male sal but i got rid of it cause my festae kicked the crap out of it..

That jack looks like a jill to me. Im pretty sure female.

Picture looks like the fish were cut and pasted, i know its not, but kinda weird looking.

JD's aren't nearly as aggressive as salvinis

The JD is probably female. Females have more blue spangling on lower part of the gill cover.

It also could have its normal colouration. There is some variety in colour of JD's. The ones from Lake Peten, for example, are very pink on top like yours.

Yes, that jack is a female. I would know, I have thousands of them lol.
