The next question is how to differentiate between the males and the females (See Picture 1). Males have more squared heads, slimmer body and more odontotes on their pectoral fins. (Picture 2). The females have sharper head shape and fuller body looks with rather smooth pectoral fins.
(The general advice for sexing is to look at all of the fish together, and pick out the ones that look the most different)
thanks for the input. I know how too, but wanted to kmow if those guidelines hold true at such a small size. Based on the poeple I have talked to five inches is too small. I am picking two up tomorow. I guess I will just have to grow them and see.
Got the two fish. the are both about six inches or so. Honestly think they are going to turn out to me be a male and female. I guess time will tell. they are gorgeous!
