Sexing SYNSPILLUM

Hi guys... I found this gorgeous Synspillum in a local shop and I'm in two minds whether or not to get it... Firstly Its about 7 inches long and quite colorful BUT I have absolutely no idea apart from seeing the fish when the tubes are down to tell the difference in the sexes... Is there any features I should look out for that makes it a male?

Also will these mix in with Jack Dempseys and Firemouths?

You cant visusally sex them, you will have to vent them. Housing them is gonna be hit or miss, in my experience they can be nippy/violent toward similar looking fish or new fish in general.
