I have 4 Temensis which are approaching or at breeding size and are now 10-12", I think I have 2 pairs forming.
I have been trying to sex them via their vents and I have 2 of each but the structure is not exactly as described on here.
I have 2 Mature Mono males that I may use to help sex my Tems.

Would I be right in thinking that the vents in the two Cichla sp. would be the same??
Would the males also be larger than the females??

I am not sure where i read it but i think Tems take a bit longer to become sexually mature. i think i read 2 to 4 years which would make them 18 inches+.

Has anybody on here has breed Temensis??

i have the same problem with my 3 the smallest looks to be female and the 2 larger to be males they are all around 20inch with still no pairing or breading signs showing just the usual agro they are around 1.5 years old i wouldnt expect to see them breed until they hit the 24-25inch mark if they will breed at all in a tank

I know of a friend who had a pair that breed in his 6x2x2 and they were no more than 18" from memory.

i believe farm fish will mature much faster than their wild counterparts.
vents should look the same as other cichla species.
good luck.
