sexing texas

Males should grow quicker, have more bulk/girth to them. Females may appear smaller although same length. Males grow a nuchal bump.

I would not rely on nuchal hump to sex anything. It has been proven time and time again that females can and do grow them as well. THe only way I know to sex texas cichlids is by the black spot in the dorsal fin. Females have it (usually) males do not.

By 6" a female should obviously show the black blotch on her dorsal fin.
