sexing Veija Synspilum

Is there anyway to sex Veija Synspilum at about 6 to 7''. I have two, one appears to be out growing the other and the black strip in the back center of one appears to have left and is now appears to have spread over the hole back in of trhe body. Are there any other things to look for? Anyone have pictures of males and females for ideas

Here are a few. I am not sure how larger they need to be to breed, but they have turned very aggressive towards others in the tank. They my be going in Breeding mode. I have to get rid of that female, I don;t want that.

see if you can post some more photos.the second photo shows the pair,before he killed her.other 2 pics are the same male.they can be hard to sex.males will start to get a steeper head profile,more spotting in the unpaired fins.my fish is about 6 inches now

If your fish are the same age, then the male will outgrow the female. My males are at least 30% larger than the females. Also, the males will have a steeper profile in the forehead region. Here are a pair of my 'synspilum' (AKA 'melanurum'). I have had them breed with the males as small as 4" and the females 3".
