only way to really know is to have a pair and see which one lays eggs and which one holds them. my LFS says that you can tell by the lower jaw. if it sticks out more then the top its a male. i have 2 aro's and one sticks out and one doesnt i hope its a m/f pair

I thought that too but I highly doubt this concept.
 
i do not know.... i have a beautifull silver aro home grown about 2 feet, could u give me some info of the 450 pond that you are getting?
