Is the sexual maturity of a fish based on its age or size, just wondering because every fish i buy from LFS is 4to5 times bigger than the tankmates it had @LFS. example i bought a 2inch RD out of a tank of similar sized devils 7 months later mine is 7inches min. and the ones at the LFS seem to still be the same size.

Ummm.....seven months later, the ones still at the store are not the same ones that were in the tank when yours was there. 
LFS feed to the very minimum.. so sometimes you may see the same fish but it should not and does not compare to the quality life it has in your tank at home.. proper nutrition and water parimeters make all the difference in growth and size.. being at the LFS is just enough care to maintain life.. in most instances..
