I have a TC that appears to be female, even tries to lay eggs. It goes through the motions but no egg tube. Appears to have a pointed flap instead. Its with a male and he acts normally around he/she. Obviously he doesn't know either. He /she is small only 4 inches...maybe its a infertile female. He/she is about 2 years old.
Any thoughts about a fish changing sex. I know fish like salmon do that.
I don't know...I'm just guessing. The couple are in the same tank together alone. He beat up his last mate and I had to remove her, so I know he's a male for sure. But he/she? Small but very attractive. I'll give it to my LFS here in Vista(SanDiegoCounty) unless someone here wants it.
Right now I have 2 females and 2 males plus I have 3 juvies about 1 inch long, so I do not need any more considering my other couple keep me in fry.
That one fish out of all my other TC's I have never seen this behaviour in any other TC, and I have raised hundreds of TC's.
