I never quite figured out what species I have (last I knew L147 was closest) but I had a few questions about sexual dimorphism.

what size do "commons" usually mature at?
And I was told the papillae (sp) are different, but how? could someone show me the difference between a male's papillae and a female's?
Also, I know next to nothing about plecos, and I'm not quite sure how I got my fiance's pleco past 2 inches, >< so I have no clue what papillae are!!

it's not a huge deal, but I was just curious!

Thanks in advance!

If you search for sexing plecos, you will find quite a few threads about it. For commons it isn't something many people look for, as they are not easily bred in aquaria. They are generally bred in huge ponds with muddy banks.

Sorry so slow with a response!! ><

I tried looking on the board, but I'm not quite finding what I was looking for...it's no big deal though, I'm not trying to breed.

Thanks anyways!!
