IN A PLACE
got your interest? Good.

Any ideas for some caves for my pike cichlids in my 1100g?

I don't like the look of black abs pipe and clay sewer tubes don't go with the color scheme.

Here's a pic of the tank.

I'm open to some sexy cave ideas

Also, I have plenty of tools so modifying plastic or stone isn't a problem.

weight it down with tiles on the bottom or any other way you choose.

I like to use the large black pipe for structure and then I conceal it with rock work. I do it in such a way that you can't tell the pipe is there and even if you do end up at some weird angle where you could see into the cave the black pipe isn't noticeable. It looks like a natural shadow.

I think I will buy some type of square tubular plastic and attach tile in it with the leftover ecobond I have. Maybe even use some type of faux plant may as well. Stay tuned for some sexy caves!

Cover your pipe or whatever with Polygem 307 Light--a fish-safe epoxy. It can be painted and sealed with a clear epoxy (which Polygem also sells.) It is sort of a industry trade secret. Many big name builders use Polygem for backgrounds and decorations. The sky's the limit for what you can do with the stuff. Jrt has some incredible builds. Here's his thread

Entire animal habitats have been built using Polygem.

Very cool! It may be a little out of budget for this particular project though. I'm certainly going to use that in a future project!

Find a thick driftwood log and hollow it out.

My pikes are 12" and 14" long and I want to add a 10" zebrina, finding a log that big and coring it out would be really time consuming.
