they got a guy selling sugar gliders at the mall and my wife fell in love with them. i told her i thing they need alot of attention and she cant ignor them for days like fish. do they need anything special like chinchillas need dust baths? I know a little about the but how much more work and attention will they need more than keeping a hampster?

Sugar Gliders are very cool, but Royal Pain In the *** too! They are some of the filthiest creatures I've ever kept! Rodents have great personal hygiene even if they make a mess of their surroundings, SGs seem to have absolutely to inclinations to keep clean and defecate all over themselves. Mine ruined the wall behind their cage by spraying urine and fruit and veggie bits all over it.
Also some people (like myself!) Have mild allergic reactions to them, more specifically, my skin would break out in a rash wherever they would crawl on me.
I can only assume this was due to bacteria on their claws due to their lack of personal hygiene. Before anyone flames me about "not keeping their cage clean enough", I cleaned it with bleach and HOT water 2x a week!
Feeding them is a little time consuming, but not too bad. I would buy mixed bags of frozen fruits and veggies at the grocery store and feed them a mixture of these with pellets(parrot pellets such as ZuPreem work well) every night. You ABSOLUTELY CANNOT miss a feeding!!! Their metabolism is so high that they will suffer if you do!!
Also, If you want more than one, make sure you only have ONE male and at least TWO females. Or just get females. My male almost killed my female (before I new better) by starving her.

Other than all the negatives I listed, They ARE very entertaining and friendly creatures and I don't regret keeping them. They make asound that I can only describe as sticking a pen in an electrical pencil sharpener lol.

No sugar glider for her! thanks. i figured we're too busy for one

;) Mine were a "Christmas Present that my wife wanted". Who do you think got stuck caring for them? lol.

see it wouldnt be to bad if i was a wife, animal crazy already :D
on a serious note, you talked me out of them too lol
