The shadow bass (Ambloplites ariommus) is a species of freshwater fish in the sunfish family (Centrarchidae) of order Perciformes. It is native to Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Georgia.
A. ariommus reaches a maximum recorded overall length of 30 cm (12 in) and a maximum recorded weight of 820 g (1.8 lb).
The shadow bass prefers vegetated stream and river pools. Fisherman in the Ozarks and the South typically and collectively refer to Shadow Bass, Rock Bass, Warmouth and Ozark Bass as "Goggle Eye." Shadow Bass are caught with the same baits used for panfish: worms, minnows, crayfish, spinner baits, jigs, soft baits, poppers and wet flies.

I have 6 of these little beauties, now just about 3 inches or so, they so far are great tank inhabitants, not really agressive with each other or other tank mates, However if anyone would like one, i would consider a trade for Orange Spotted sunfish.

seriously man, where do you keep copying and pasting this stuff from? wikipedia?

what do you care, i try to show what these fish will look like grown, and some accurate info on them. Are you interested in owning one ?? This is a really hard to come by fish, I had hoped to be offering maybe to supply one to anyone not able to aquire them, on a trade out basis, and get flamed. I dont use my own pictures because i have a crappy camera, and take crappy pictures. Sorry for the offer, it will be my last one.

As i said crappy camera, crappy picture, Not a photographer, but just for the record, this is a pic from my tank with one of these little fish, in its juvy state. By the way these are no longer available.Picture 006.jpg

Your info fails to mention Mississippi as habitat for the Shadow bass as well. And it says that the are called Warmouth as well. In fact, the Warmouth Bass is another species Lepomis Megolotis.

Thats correct, it says they are sometimes called warmouth as well as other things, I keep warmouth as well, and know the difference. the info i posted was from a well known source, not from me, also if they are in Mississippi thats kewl. Im sorry i posted this at all now, It was only to try to make available to anyone who wanted one, a kewl little fish, that is seldom available, on a trade basis, as i have too many to keep them all to maturity, I had no Idea it would cause such an uproar. Especially from people who could care less about having one. But some people have nothing better to do than try to stir @#$%. That having been said im out. :irked:

No No, I was just letting you know we had them down here. I keep native fish as well. One of my favorite natives is Lepomis megalotis, the long eared sunfish. I mistakingly listed that name rather than the Warmouth's Lepomis gulosus.

Seriously man, when you can list more than 5 feeder fish to your credit, you might consider yourself qualified to even comment in this sub-forum.
