Shallow tank stocking suggestions

I would suggest upper jaw bichirs like mentioned, you can put some delhezi, moke, retro, palmas polli, palmas palmas, and senegals, height wont be an issue to this guys.
16" height then you drop the water 1.5" then if your going to add another 1" layer of substrate will leave you 13.5" left.

Im loving the idea of doing a huge delhezi biotope setup with a ton of emersed vegetation, would enough hiding spots in the form of dense vegetation and roots be enough to help prevent jumping? Im going over to check the tank out tonight but Im pretty sure theres no lid included

Dels are cool and supper active, would also allow you to add other species being that they dont get too big

Some ctenopoma would fit well in there with delhezi

Oops, double post.

So I'm probably going to plan this whole setup around the delhezi, definitely want to include the ctenopoma and ABFs if I can, but does anyone know a good sympatric cleanup crew species that'll stay out of their mouths?
So far everything i want in there is a little monster, haha

Plecos. BN plecos would be good in that setup

My answer to pretty much everything, is cichlids. Tons of great options for a tank this large that wouldn't need height. Africans are a no-brainer, plenty of mbuna options would work, tropheus would be cool. Central americans are my favorite, you could do a huge colony of thoricthys or something like sajica, let them breed and multiply, sell the babies. Anything that doesn't get taller than like 8" would be fine. Most cichlids don't get that tall and they don't utilize height

Bala sharks good clean up crew

Not really in such a shallow tank, IMO, there are much better options that don't get huge.

The depth does limit things, to me those dimensions would be great for a planted tank or a rift lake biotope, but if you're keen on monsters then I think the idea of delhezi and other similar-sized upper-jaw Polypterus great.

A group of spotted and or striped rapheal cats are a great clean up crew cheap and the del wouldnt be able to eat them
