Basically I live in central Illinois and fresh fish is not an option and only frozen things I can find at my local grocery store is shrimp. I usually feed silversides and shrimp and some squid to my sharks. The pet store prices are ridiculous for silversides, so Ive been trying to find some good olnine places to order frozen fish food. Anyone have any good recommendations or even a replacement for silversides? I would like to make a decent sized order to get me through the winter basically.

It might be worth your while to come up this way to a Asian grocery store called Super H on Ogden ave. in Naperville. They have about any kind of fish you would need to feed your tank. All kinds of shrimp, squid, octo, shellfish (razor clams, scallops, clam, mussel etc.) and of course some nice fillets and steaks of Chillean Sea Bass (my favorite) snapper, monk, grouper and on and on. You can eat in the other side of the store too. Lots of Asian shops. Might be worth the trip and also lot of different kind of nori and seaweeds for the other fish.

I just googled it and from your area it looks almost like 3 hrs up there. Just a thought, if you wanted to do this is if you give me a list I could pick it up for you and you could take a hour off each way from my house.

Deano - Thanks for the info on that place, I might make a trip up there some time to check it out, anythings better than paying for pet store fish food haha

Jabba - What are some of the things you have ordered from here that you feed your sharks? I will probably place a order soon and was just curious to what your sharks liked to eat

I generally order what I want to eat myself, and give a few filets to the sharks. The horn shark particularly likes the shellfish.

We have similar Asian supermarkets throughout the city here and they have an incredible selection of fresh and saltwater seafood....Nice of you to make such an offer Deano.:)

Not to be this guy, but eating, let alone feeding your fish patagonian toothfish...is not environmentally friendly. Please everyone, boycott eating "Chillean Sea Bass" this fishery is not being used in a sustainable manner.

www.ilovebluesea.com - good, fresh sea food. I order from them all the time (for myself and the sharks).

What is nice about this place is that they seem environmentally friendly. Their shrimp it looks like are also chemical free. Unfortunately I dont have the money to order fresh. Raw frozen with chemicals I guess it will remain. I soak my shrimp in FW (to thaw and hopefully get out some of the salt and chems) then I dry it, and do a selecon soak.

Well I dont know about what Fleshy was talking about but I just read an article that say's "It's one of the worst fish to eat because of elevated murcury levels" ouch. Won't be buying that anymore.
