Looking for some ideas on shark ponds. Please Post Pics and something about ponds.

I hav enot built one but I would build a 2000 + gallon pond for sharks. Having a large foot print is better that depth for a shark pond, so think big.

Ok, Thanks

I'm planning on a 1,617 gallon tank

Could you be more precise w/gallonage?

jk

Lol =P
I was just looking at the tank so the number was fresh in my mind.

Bump!

Going to give SeaWorld a little competition there are you?

What kind of sharks we talking about? 1,617g isn't much space for sharks.

Since money isn't an object (if you want to keep 1,617g of saltwater in tune it must not be), you need to go with an oval or round tank as square tanks are a waste of space and the sharks tend to beat themselves up to much in them.

Sand or bead filtration and depending on the bio-load, on the order of 20x per hour and possibly several foam fractionators. And a backup system.

At least 500g of premixed water for incidentals will also need to be kept on hand too.

The pool is a circle., its going to have a sand substrate. Im still thinking of ways of doing the protien skimmer. But filter is going be something like a sump.

Sump will be too small of a scale for something of this size. Like the Doc said, you're going to need something more along the lines of a sand filter (or 2), a large bio tower (or 2) and a few other 'big boy' type toys to make it work.

Okay well its going to be along way down the road before Ill be getting one but still looking around. Its going to be between a month to 2 months before I start the project and probley 2 to 3 months before having the shark after its set up
