Hey guys, I just bought a 'Emperor ID Shark'. I tried feeding him bloodworms, but he wouldn't take. I need to try again tomorrow since he was fresh in the tank. But I would like to know if anyone has information on them, and could confirm it is in fact a paroon shark who will eventually start eating other fishies.

Thanks,

Paroon or ID, it doesn't matter. Once it gets big enough it will probably try to eat anything that fits in its mouth, particularly if not fed properly.

He should start eating eventually. These things get huge. One of my customers gave me one. It was 18" and came out of a 55 gallon......That's right. An 18" fish in a 12" wide tank. Dont ask me how.
I had it in my pond for a while, but ended up donating it to a local koi farm.

Looks like an ID to me.
Once they hit a couple feet, their teeth fall out and they become algae eaters.
But for now, hes an eating machine.
Break out the 300 gallons.

I just noticed he won't even swim for the flakes, even if i push them under so they sink, just swims past and into stuff. I read that fish can go blind, is there any way to tell if he is blind or not?

i doubt that he is blind, probably just needs to acclimate some more. He is in an entirely new situation, water chemistry, temp, etc. Give him a few days with the lights off, then try frozen, mysis. Im sure you probably already knew that this fish gets really big and have prepared for that. Or at least have a plan for when he does outgrow you.

So you got him yesterday and it's not eating for you? Give him sometime you just got it, let it acclimate to the tank and feel secure.

Good news guys. Was at the LFS today, bought a pictus catfish, and figured out my shark is infact the Pangasius sanitwongsei, or paroon, not ID. Then after I got home I decided to feed my fish, still didn't eat flakes, so I tried bloodworms again. He is only about 2.5 inches long, and he ripped it apart as best he could :)

You're gonna need a bigger tank
