I have a bamboo cat shark and what to get a sting ray ..what sting ray would make a good tank mate for the shark and after the ray ..what other fish would make good tank mates for the shark and ray..the tank is 7 foot long x 2 foot wide..old style 200gallon tank...

Hey, Let me first start be stating you will need to make an upgrade alone just to house the Shark ethically. Your 200 will not do, you will need to upgrade to a 350 to house the shark for life. Also at 24" width your tank is really to small to house any Ray. However, if you plan on upgrading to a tank with atleast 30" width, than I would recommend the Cortez Stingray. If you need one, I can help you get one. Also as for other tank mates you can go with Tangs, Eels, Groupers, Clowns, Squirell Fish. Anything except Angels, Butterflies, Triggers, Puffers basically.

Especially Black & White Heniochus Butterflies. Those guys are eye eaters! My girlfriend had a Horn shark and the Heniochus ate his eyes out.

I also agree that Angels, Puffers, Triggers & Butterflies are bad tank mates for sharks.

Personally I would also add Lions as potental threats - although no so much a biter. But because of the venomous spines, Lions can sometimes kill sharks.

I have heard that alot but are you sure?? Ille admit i have never seen it but i have heard quite a few stories about sharks and groupers eating lionfish.
Also while a diff species altogether i have had in my own tank a fimbriate morey eat a fuzzy dwarf lionfish with nothing bad happening to the eel.
Im not saying your wrong as the poison is def there for a reason but i just think its more of a deterent then something deadly for whatever eats them.

eels are somehow more articulate with their mouths than other fish and usually can manage to swallow the fish head first, if this happens (with any pred) they usuallyturn out fine.
