i see alot of people running pools for their sharks, but am wondering what brands are shark safe?

seems the intex pools are iffy and have caused some problems with unknown chemicals. i know there are affordable options out there, so lets hear em!

Well - first off most people that take above ground pools and convert them into shark ponds - don't use the pool liners. Or at very least they add a fish safe 25-45 mil pond liner over top the pool liner. The chemicals in a standard pool liner can cause problems for a shark pond. Hince the need for the fish safe pond liner.

Most above ground pools need some modifications to be safe enough to keep sharks in.

i see, still a cheap way to house sharks. when the time comes i will buy a liner for my 10' intex then.

second thought, anybody ever use a pond liner with a glass viewing window? i got a 5x4 sheet of 1" safety glass that needs to be used someday.

Above ground pools work great for sharks! An intex or a regular metal wall pool will work fine. Its best to use an Epdm liner or a aqua culture pvc liner. I you can't afford one of those liners a virgin vinyl pool liner will work also but will crack and have to be replaced a lot sooner than the others I suggested.

What do you mean by safety glass? acrylic or laminated plate glass? If you have a sheet of acrylic it can be used for a window on a pool without too much work.

its 2 1/2" sheets laminated together, and marked safety glass, like a really thick windshield.

its a 400g tank that was built for a hotel, 5'x4'x33". the whole thing is 1/2" tempered except the front which is the 1" safety glass. right now its broke down to just panels and would be great for a diy pond with window.

turbo how did you put in a window, pics?

It's as easy as cutting the hole, and securing the window with some good sealant (DOW 795 works great). I'd put a few of bolts through as well, but that's just me.
