Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone had a contact that supplies sharks?

Looking for a blacktip ideally.

Cheers!

I could be wrong, but I believe a black tip can easily reach 5-6'. In addition, since it is a shark, it has to be swimming constantly to breath. I don't think a 1,000 gallon aquarium will hold it for very long.

Here are a few pictures of the black tip sharks that are kept in one of the LFS in the Cincinnati, OH area. This is a 17,000 gallon concrete tank. It is home to three black tip sharks and a giant grouper. The black tips are not full grown yet and are already 4'+ long. No way will they fit into a 1000 gallon aquarium at the size they already are.

I have no desire to keep it in there for the duration of it's life. I have an unused pool that I'm planning on migrating them to.

If that's the case, and you live somewhere where they can live in the pool year round without it getting too cold, then I would contact Aquatics and Exotics in Cincinnati, OH and ask them about it. I doubt they have any small ones but they may have an idea and can hopefully point you in the right direction.

Thanks buddy, I'm actually in the UK and the pool is heated so the temperature wont be an issue, the pool is 660,430 gallons, I did have koi in it but got bored of those pretty quickly!

I'm not sure what the rational was of the people that built it, it's not Olympic in length but it's deeper than your usual Olympic pool, not sure why, was here when I bought the house. I'll try and find some pics of when I had the koi in it, I decked over half and split it into two.
