Well, it's that time of year when the Discovery Channel offers us a week of shark related programs. Good, bad or anything else... feel free to discuss it here: Shows, content, stories......

shark week is just epic and sweet watch it every year

Prowling Sharks of the Mediterranean is AWESOME, I'm watching it right now!! The part where the Great White Shark eats the Thresher Shark...

I used to LOVE Shark Week. But lately, I think they should just call it Great White Sharks Killing Things Week and stop pretending to present solid info about sharks.

Yeah, I know 98% of the population wants to have their incorrect image of sharks as blood thirsty monsters reinforced, but I'd rather see cool cutting edge research and info about sharks people don't even know are out there.

speaking of great whites. did you hear that the beaches of cape cod are closed due to 6 of them within a few hundred yards of the beaches. they have all been taged to keep track if new sharks arrive.

There's actually a video on Youtube where a marine Biology for the MASS Dept of marine fisheries - explains some nice facts about the western North Atlantic population of Great Whites.

Namely how they visit New England, in the summer and early fall - then winter off the Southeastern U.S. coast.

But I agree that recently Shark Week seems to be about Action, and blood, than it is about on-going Scientific research to study sharks.

I think the show on aerial great white attacks was cool. Not a lot of information, but it did not make them out to be man eaters and they had some great shots of the great whites jumping. ( I was at a friend's place last night and got them to watch it haha)

That was cool the first time they showed that but after three installments of that I have had enough great whites sharks jumping. Personally I would like to see a show on hammer heads, oceanic white tips, Small coastal sharks here in the USA or better yet a show on how they are captured, transported, cared for and researched at public aquariums. Just a couple of thoughts cause I am burnt on great whites.

Me too! We almost had that when I was in MN. Maybe someone could do some A/B roll of moving sharks, then slap together a show for them.
