Aww man...I forgot to tivo that. Well, knowing discovery channel they'll rerun it soon anyway. Granted I'm absolutely terrified of sharks....but I still always end up watching those shows about them.

The show was almost entirely about how people are generally scared of sharks, and how the aquarium projects are aiming to educate people and let people interact with sharks so that people aren't so affraid of them. They said that in an average year, 10 people are killed by sharks, in contrast, every year, people kill 6 million (don't quote me, but it was in the millions) sharks. They showcased some exhibits where people get to swim with the sharks and feed them etc.

Really worth the watch. Plus it's HD!!!!

The list of things that kill more humans per year than sharks include:

Bee stings
Coconuts falling from trees
Vending machines tipping over

It's all about the negative press sharks get. We do a dive program at our place. It really shows you sharks aren't so bad. (see avatar)

Sharks are magnificent creatures. Man there cool. They do get a bad wrap but they sure do look the part of a killer......well besides the fact that they are killers (for food).... just not naturally to humans.

I love those discovery HD shows. I watched one on beavers and that was COOL.

Yeah, so I'm scared of sharks. Has nothing to do with the fact I misunderstand them. It's a totally unreasonable fear that has less to do with their teeth and actions that the fact that when I was young I went to an aquarium and had one stare and follow me back and forth across one of the viewing windows. dunno why but it just really freaked me out.
