Watched this movie last night, it's about the shark finning trade.

don't know how to add a link but it's sharkwater.com

Alot of the movie is spent trying to eliminate the sharks bloodthirsty reputation but they talk some about the likely results if we eliminate the apex predator in the oceans food chain.

There is some really amazing underwater photography as well.

Just wondering if anyone else had seen the movie and what your thoughts on the subject of shark finning are?

Capt Paul Watson is the capt of the Sea Shepherd (Ship Rob was aboard during filming).

It is truely a great film and those guys are doing some awesome work for conservation.

This was the first time I'd heard about Capt. Watson, I was very impressed with his dedication to something he feels strongly about, especially since he knows the level of corruption in the governments he deals with.

I was very suprised about Costa Rica though, for some reason I've been under the impression that is one of the countries down there worth visiting.

i'm afraid to watch it. Will I end up crying? Do they show a lot of finning being done? Cause if they do, i've seen enough of that to know I never want to watch it ever again. :(

I don't know about crying but it sure pissed me off :D they do show alot of finning though.

It goes into great detail showing what actually happens out on the high sea. It's not some fluffy we're gonna make you cry at the climax type film. It's the bare truth laid out for all to see.

I just wanted to bump this, I just saw this movie the other day it was on TMNOD. I was very impressed with what I saw in this movie.

If you havent seen it then I would highly recommend watching it, for more info check out www.sharkwater.com.

I was also impressed with what the Sea Shepard did, and looked into them a little more and found that they are more into protecting whales and seals but will protect all wild life and the crew of the sea shepard are all volunteers which I think is pretty impressive.

oh and Sea Shepard is actually the name of the organization... http://www.seashepherd.org/

I hate shark finners, there the reason you have a 1/1000 chance of catching a shark from the surf!
