Any info on sheath catfish, belodontichthys truncatus? I spoted a couple of babies (2-3") at a LFS, and now considering getting one. After researching this species I know that they get big, highly predatory but not territorial, and are very active. Can anyone with experience keeping these chime in and add some additional inofrmation? I am especially interested in learning of their realistic size in captivity (is it really 24"?), and possibility of getting them off the live food. Also, do they get along with conspecifics as adults? If so, I may grab two

Had 2, 14in. and 11in. but the bigger one attacked the smaller one,and he died from his injuries 1 week later. cool fish, started to train them to eat smelt, jigging on fishing line.

How is their growth rate and aggression towards other species. Is there anyone who have succeeded in switching them to non-live food?

Yes, like I said ,started to train to eat jigged silversides/smelt. Not as easy as some fish ,but mine does ,but he has to be comfortable with your presence before he will eat non-live. took about a month. I have mine solo, havent figured out a tankmate yet. They dont get real big like 27 in. planet cfish says
