Ok, so I've been doing this fish thing for a long time (started at 13 years old, i'm now 30). I have always had a question about breeding F1 "sister/brother stock". I have seen all the crooked nosed, blunt nosed stunted looking african's at my LFS and I can't help but wonder if this is a result of incestual interbreeding. It's apparent that F0 stock should be bred for pureness of the breed, however, when amateurs, or pro's for that matter, purchase groups of one type of fish to breed - are they doing more harm than good?

What is the long term effect on the hobby and the captive bred species due to this inbreeding?

Hope someone can help.
Chris
