I was in Chicago last week for business and took the chance to visit the Shedd Aquarium. It was awesome. This was the first big aquarium I have been to and was impressed with the collection of freshwater fish. I will post some pics as soon as I can.

Anyone else been there? What did you think? Are there other aquariums that are even better than the Shedd??

I've been there a few times, I always enjoy their amazon and water of the world exhibits.

Been there a dozen or so times and still love it. I'd imagine there are bigger and better somewhere but haven't been there yet. Mandalay Bay in Vegas while much smaller has some very high quality displays.

I've been to the baltimore aquarium, the national aquarium in DC, the florida aquarium, seaworld, woods hole aquarium, the mystic aquarium, the boston aquarium, the aquarium of niagra, shedd, and probably one or two others I'm forgetting.
Shedd was my favorite by far, the quality and sheer number of exhibits was mind blowing

been to florida, seaworld in both florida and san diego, one in hawaii and a few others tbh I don't remember. As far as FW is concerned I always loved Shedd the best. Particularly after the remodel. and really enjoy some of their exhibits mixing fish and reptiles, exhibiting natural biomes. And I always look forward to seeing their big circular SW set-up in the center. It's always getting better, without getting "new fish" some of the beasts they have there I remember as a child when my dad first took me there. It's amazing to see their giant Lungfish every time I visit. And the alligator snapper.

I know what you mean the second I see the circular tank I instantly turn into a 4 year old.

I used to go there every year on field trips, and living 20 minutes away really has its perks ;-) I try to make it there at least twice a year, and I also have friends who work there (I knew them before going there)
