Sheepshead Pacu? (Acnodon normani)

I’ve recently taken an interest in the sheepshead pacu, Acnodon normani. However I’ve seen rather conflicting information on their behaviour. Some places sum them up as a largely peaceful species. I’ve seen others refer to them as scale/eye biting monsters. Obviously, I’d hate to let a fish of the latter category anywhere near my community tank, so I was wondering if anyone here has personal experience with the species?

At the end of the day, they are pacu, so a risk to whatever they consider food. Likely they are more of a scale eater when young, and move on to larger foods as they age, like many of the serrasalmidae do.

Never kept them myself. Always wanted to but other members have and known to be a bit aggressive. Nippy with other fish. When everything looks like a nail and you’re the hammer…do what you do best.
