I want to maximize the space in my fish room/front porch. I have about at most 42 inches(maybe a few inches more) from the wall to the big desk with my other tanks. So I am looking for something that can hold multiple tanks, nothing bigger than a 20 long, so basically 10's and 20 longs.

I was looking at homedepot.com and found this http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs...d=10053&productId=100489746&categoryID=529235 It's 36 inches long so would fit in my cramped space. I can fit three 10 gallons width-wise per shelf. So water weighs 8 pounds per gallon so that's 80lbs. per tank. They will be bare tanks mostly so at most 85lbs. per tank. It's 5 shelves but I doubt I will have tanks on the top. So probaly six 10 gallon tanks(spanding two shelves) and four 20's(on the other 2 shelves). That's just under 1300lbs, that's also adding an extra 100 pounds for total weight of the actual tank. It's rated for 4000lbs, which I think is BS, but I will be having a bit over a 1/4 of what it's rated up to, so i should be good.

The particle board on it, after reading reviews on other ones like this is pretty weak and crappy. But I could replace it or find some way around that. What does everyone think about this idea though. Do you think it will hold up with all of the weight. I really don't want to make a stand if I don't have to, so unless I absolutely have to, i would rather not. What's everyones opinions, will this thing work, or will i have to buy new tanks after it's up for a week.:)

It should be good just replace the particale board with some 3/4" ply.

go with the 48 long, 24 deep, 72 high one. Thats a 55 or 75 on the bottom and 9 20's? you can put 20 highs the long way. You can also have just 20h's the long way because they are 24 long and 12 wide.

Well I measured how much room was on both sides of the table. And there was 27.5 in. on one side and 20 in. on the other side. Giving me 47.5 inches. Not gonna work Bud,lol. I saw that one though, but Ill have to make do with the smaller one.

Homedepot.com is offline, like seriously WTF. LOL I was going to print the page out, i can't believe it happened 3 minutes before i leave for work, lol. As long as they will hold I think a few of them would be nice and they could hold alot. I'm thinking of taking out the big bulky table out now and getting two 48 inch one now. I could easily put the tanks I have now on them and still have space on a single one. Two would be nice to expand to though when I get more tanks.

I was thinking about this just 2 days ago when I went to home depot to pick up playground sand and pebbles!
I was wondering about everyone else's idea! Because instead of having seperate filter and heater which will lead into 50 million plugs.. is everyone planning on using pvc pipes and stuff to make all the water filter in one big sump or soemthing? cuz that's what I was thinking! I know my gf dun like the fact of that, but having that much equipment and changing filter and paying the electric bill would be insane, wut's ur ideas?

Yeah I'm going to use sponge filters for all of the tanks. Much easier to setup. Buy an air pump and there ya go you have a sponge filter pretty much.

I went to Home Depot during my lunch at work and found the ones that I have the link for. I couldn't really touch them a whole lot cause their on a 5 foot shelf to start with. But i wiggled the base of the bigger 48 inch one. It seemed stable, lol. Seemed the major part, lol. I'm just going to get the bigger 48 inch one. It's damn huge, and you can set the heigth of the levels, so i can have different size tanks. The particle board I doubt will hold anything, So i scoped some wood out.

I couldn't find a small peice of plywood just like huge 15 foot peices, screw that. But I did find 48 inches long(which is perfect) 3/4 inch thick fiberboard and also another kind but it was called white melamine. Which would be the best to hold alot of tanks, the fiberboard or melamine.

Also do you all think I should make my own sponge filters(I've tried before and failed miserably) or by them Hydro ones. Is there an easy but effective way to make one. This would be their sole filtration so it can't be some crappy thing that won't do much. :D
