shell dwellers in a 12g long?

Anyone have any input on how some shellies might work in a Mr Aqua 12g long?

Any suggestions on substrate and decor would be greatly appreciated as well. I have a Fluval 205 I could use for filtration and a 36" dual bulb T5NO Coralife fixture for lights. I figure some java fern would be doable--not sure of other plants though.

As far as substrate goes - sand or gravel will work. For decor, lots of shells. Plants - anubias, java fern, bolbitis
