I have a 10g set up with 2 pairs of brevis and I was just looking for some general help (this is my first rift lake set up).

I have the bottom with sand and about 10 shells in it. Should I put some extra rocks (i.e. petrified wood, slate, etc), or just leave it be?

Here are my water parameters:

Temp: 80f
Ammonia: .25ppm
Nitrites: 0ppm
Nitrates: Below 5ppm
GH: 9
KG: 10
ph: 7.8

I know the hardness and ph is a little low but I just started filtering crushed coral and just added some as substrate mixer. Also, the ammomia is because it's still slightly cycling.

Once the parameters are set, should I expect breeding or is this something I am going to have to work at? Any general advice/tips concerning brevis will be appreciated as, like I said, this is my first rift lake tank.

everything sounds good so far. only thing i could suggest is:
`get that ammonia down, they are sensitive fish
`if your brevis are using the shells, great. mine dont. you may stack some small riverstone near the back for them to hide in.
`if you are trying to breed, you may segregate the shells to two different piles and stack some rocks between then in a wall. do this so that when the fish are breeding, they cant see each other. this will lower the aggression, defensive actions and stress of breeding.

good luck and post some pics soon
