I didn't clean filter for a while, I think a year or may be more. I don't have shells in tank that I added. I found these all over in my freshwater tank. I am curious how? These are just few, I had 7-8x in total, in fluval fx4 with few peacocks in it.

Baby snails usually get through the filter intake and end up growing to adults in the filter itself. I've also cleaned a canister filter and found live baby Malawi cichlids.

Correction to my original post, I meant I found those all over in canister filter that's connected to freshwater tank.

That variety burrows in the substrate for the most part. You can have a bunch of them in the tank and hardly know it.

You have the infamous Malaysian Trumpet Snail (MTS) which is a prolific live bearing snail that is quite difficult to eradicate. Unfortunately their hard shells will jam your canister and pumps impeller.

Agree, MTS. Colors, shapes, and markings vary.
During the day you may not see them much, because they often remain buried in the substrate, but at night when lights are off, may pepper the sides of tanks..
Rummaging thru the substrate, they help keep it from going anoxic, and can do the same in a gunked up filter that is not regularly cleaned, but can ruin impellers if they get caught.
